When I moved to the States in 2014 I started photographing with my 35mm camera. Very quickly I went down a path lots of us New York transplants go: I started photographing garbage on the street. I don’t know why. Maybe it was how lonely I felt, or how dirty the city felt, or how little confidence I had in my capability of photographing humans. I slowly came out of it and started photographing people and objects with more significance to me. Now, whenever I see street garbage I feel compelled to photograph, I think twice.
